“Walk tall as the trees, live strong as the mountains, be gentle as the spring winds, keep the warmth of the summer sun in your heart, and the great spirit will always be with you."
- Native American proverb"
To those who know me, I am often coined, "The tree artist." I have a preoccupation with trees, their shape, color, the various textures of bark, and the differences in their leaves. I have studied and painted these rooted beauties for many years, and just when I think I know all there is to know, I am introduced to another beautiful variety of trees in another awe-inspiring location.
Of all the trees I have painted, birch trees are my favorite. I find myself returning to their smooth, varicolored exteriors whenever I need to center myself and feel grounded. The paintings I'm sharing with you today are part of a commission of works created to honor the majesty of trees. For a moment, consider the importance of the tree and the role it plays in nature... they improve air quality by filtering dust and pollutants, they reduce erosion and the effects of flooding, and they serve as safe haven habitats for a diverse ecosystem of wildlife.
My art friends understand and appreciate trees in the same way and in the same depth that I do. If you paint, and even if you don't, spend time among the trees -- listen to them. Let them inspire you and renew your soul.
Enjoy!
Debbie
