Before launching a new series of works, I choose a single word to anchor my inspiration. This anchor serves as a base for every piece in the series -- it gives me direction and space to dwell while I contemplate the meaning and feeling behind each piece.
As 2022 makes its presence, I find myself in a place of solace and rest -- a place where my art and I can be alone. It is a good place to be as I find comfort in the process and solace in the grounding development of each piece.
My landscapes are painted intuitively with a softness of focus and gentleness. The use of soft focus and lost and found lines create the illusion of an ethereal landscape. I find great satisfaction in using this soft-focus technique, especially when accompanied by serene hues of greens and blues.
One of the joys of art is the ability to create a place, experience, or memory that can be shared with the world. I have lost myself in a comforting space made of trees, water, and light. And when this series is finished, I hope you find solace in it just as I have.
This is the first, enjoy!
